Google Ads

How to authorize Google Ads separately from Search Console, what Kwern reads from your campaigns, and how an approved change is applied.

What you need

A Google account with access to the Google Ads customer account, and the manager account above it when you reach it that way.

Connect it

Open Settings · Add an account and press Connect Google Ads. It is a separate grant from Search Console and Analytics, even on the same Google account: revoking one leaves the other working.

Then open the product's Apps page, press Choose what Kwern reads and choose the Google Ads account. You can narrow the scope to specific campaigns; left empty, the scope is every campaign of the account.

What Kwern reads

A 30-day report a day:

  • the campaigns and ad groups in scope, with their impressions, clicks, spend and conversions
  • the keywords of the manual-bidding campaigns, with their match type, status and bid — the others carry no bid to set
  • the search terms that actually triggered an ad

Impressions, clicks, spend and conversions accumulate as the connector's series. Google attributes conversions late, so each sync re-reads a week of overlap.

What Kwern can change

Bids, daily budgets, CPA and ROAS targets, pauses, negative keywords and keyword additions, each as a proposal you approve. The agent never creates a campaign or an ad group, and its instructions keep a change within 20 % of its current value unless it says why.

When the product has a site, campaigns are created from a chat instead: ask the chat to start your campaigns, and it lays out Search campaigns from your monthly budget and proposes each one whole, as one proposal. Publishing it creates the budget, the campaign, its ad groups, keywords and ads through this connection, and the campaign starts enabled.

Because approving spends money, the scope is checked again at the moment you approve: a campaign outside the scope you set is refused. The monthly budget on the agent's page is context for its runs, not a limit Kwern enforces.

The agents that use it

The Google Ads agent needs it. It is off by default, because turning it on is a decision to let something move live spend.

When it breaks

Kwern's daily Google Ads quota is shared by every Kwern account, so a run reads what the question needs in one query rather than paging through the account. A revoked grant marks the account as needing attention and pauses the agent until you reconnect.
